My story

In early 2015, before getting my B.A. in Psychology, I was an English teacher and did translations for institutions in the Chiapas region, known as a gateway in Mexico for U.S.-bound immigrants.

There, I came across the opportunity to help folks of Central American origin, mostly from Guatemala and Honduras, fleeing the violence in their countries and hoping to build something good for their families and themselves. I interviewed several immigrants and transcribed their accounts, to then translate them into English, as part of an academic effort to explain the legal implications of mistreatment of immigrants in Mexican territory, with students from the Law Faculty of UNACH (Autonomous University of Chiapas).

Fortuitously, this was the time that I met my friend, Alexander Reyer, with decades of experience as an immigration attorney. He thought it would be good for me to try helping his clients write their personal declarations, a work which is often seen as too time-consuming and troublesome for firms already working on many other aspects of their cases. The result was a wonderful partnership between his law firm and me. Since then, I have expanded my reach broadly, helping clients independently or through the firms that they choose as representatives.

Serving not only as a means for people to tell their stories but also as a form of psychological support for those previously unable to process the pain of past events, is and will always be one of the most gratifying achievements in my career.
